Rock Rapids, IA - (February 1, 2011) Alpha Omega Academy offers students access to distance learning teachers via online chat in real-time with the dynamic, Bible-based Switched-On Online® curriculum. Students enrolled in AOA and in Switched-On Online courses can now communicate directly and instantly with AOA teachers via the curriculum's internal online chat feature, allowing for further direction and immediate help to student questions.
Teachers are available Monday through Friday according to the following subject-specific schedule:
Bible - 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (CT)
French - 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (CT)
History and geography - 11 a.m. to 12 p.m./ 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. (CT)
Language arts - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m./1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (CT)
Math - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m./1 p.m. to 2 p.m./3 p.m. to 4 p.m. (CT)
Science - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (CT)
Spanish - 1 p.m. to 3 pm. (CT)
5th and 6th grade elementary - 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (CT)
Both AOA students and teachers enjoy the ability to connect via technology in a synchronous environment. Science teacher Marcia Essman said, "Teacher chat works well with our science students as it allows us to interact in real time. This way we can pinpoint exactly where our student needs help. For example, one student needed only to have a formula presented in words rather than math symbols. Once he knew what to do, the rest was easy for him."
