AOA Today - February Student of the Month
Her drive for perfection, determination, and faith are all reasons why Christina Haselerhansen has been chosen as February's student of the month. Haselerhansen, a sophomore at Alpha Omega Academy®, lives with her family in Hawaii. One of the reasons Christina chose AOA was the fact that her family was traveling and would need to be schooled from home. Her mom found out about AOA's distance learning program and let Christina know that her studies would be online, and she would be able to work at her own pace. The other main reason was the Christian-based curriculum, the importance of learning about God while studying.
A unique aspect of Christina's life is having a father who works for the U.S. Navy, which has led her to move and live in seven states. According to her parents, "She has been using AOA for the past two moves and has thrived having AOA at her fingertips." Moving around a lot has helped her to gain wisdom beyond her years and to be a role model for her peers and two younger sisters.
Christina's interests involve playing volleyball. This is her favorite sport and a great social time for her.
In her studies Christina has a drive for perfection and is determined to succeed and to be able to learn the material well. During her two years in AOA, she has maintained straight A's. Her teachers and academy service representative (ASR) recommended her because of how hard she works and how considerate she is. Her ASR, Mrs. Nachtigal, said, "Christina a very special young girl who appreciates the education she gets from the Academy and is thankful that she can receive her education while surrounded by her family."
The most important part of Christina's life is her relationship with Jesus. She shows her faith and makes sure to honor God in each aspect of her life. She realizes that in order to show her faith, she must have the fruits of the Spirit. Her love for God is why she is driven in her schoolwork, and she enjoys being a role model for those around her.
In looking toward the future, Christina is unsure of where she would like to go to college but wants to major in history and education. Congratulations, Christina, on being AOA's February Student of the Month!
