Discover the wonders of chemicals! During this course, students learn major topics in the fields of matter and energy. In the first semester, topics examined include elements, compounds, mixtures, gas laws, conservation of mass, atomic structure, and molecular structure. In the second semester, students continue their examination of chemistry with topics of chemical reactions, chemical equilibrium systems, carbon chemistry or organic chemistry.

Experiments include mixture of compounds, determination of absolute zero, conservation of mass, empirical formula of a hydrate, pH indicators, and more. This course from our online academy also utilizes virtual labs where students do their experiments in an online simulator. Each unit of this course from our online academy contains quizzes and a test to evaluate progress and student mastery.

Additional Details

The labs in this course are completed using the online simulator Late Nite Labs. A minimum of two-thirds of the projects must be completed for this course to be considered a laboratory science (college preparatory).
