Explore the value of music with music appreciation! This fun online academy elective for grades 9-12 fosters a deep appreciation and understanding for the purpose and development of music over the centuries. Examining music’s role within society and culture, this course begins with a look at human interaction with music. Additional topics include music fundamentals, instrument types, and musical group categories.

The beginnings of music and musical periods are also reviewed. Continuing lessons in this course from our online academy, students cover musical forms and genres, classical composers, modernism and musical influence, and musical trends of the 20th century. An enriching fine art elective, this course is a helpful supplemental study for budding musicians and artists alike. This course contains quizzes and tests to evaluate progress and student mastery. Projects are included.
