Kimberly Smith — Assistant to Dean
Kimberly Smith, assistant to the dean, is a key figure in helping Alpha Omega Academy successfully serve students and parents. Energetic and flexible to others' needs, Kimberly is also an academic advisor, helps monitor academic integrity, and monitors the student center. In addition, she also helps grade high school history and speech homework. Born in Florida, Kimberly is no stranger to being busy and adapting to changes. Living in over five states growing up, she has a fond love of travel and family togetherness.
With a master's degree in education and a bachelor's degree in journalism, Kimberly is proud of her academic achievements and is very qualified with over ten years teaching experience in elementary grades. She also has a background in marketing and journalism. She came to AOA to experience an online teaching environment and to have the opportunity to work with middle and high school students. She is looking forward to "broadening her horizons" by working in a distance learning academy. Her favorite part of working at AOA is communicating with students and parents, and she especially likes reading students' speech and essays!
Kimberly has two children, Robyn and Will, and loves being involved in her children's activities. When not at work, Kimberly is actively involved in her church as a children's minister and as the wife of a senior pastor. She is involved in children's groups like AWANA and is an English language class coordinator for the Spanish congregation. She is also a score keeper for her church's softball team and substitute catcher when needed. Her interests also include reading, history, boating, and her favorite pet–dogs! In fact, one of her favorite quotes is "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's just too dark to read!"
Kimberly's most treasured possession is her relationship with her Savior and her family. Her favorite book of the Bible is Ruth, and her favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11-13, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." One of her goals in life is to be an international missionary with her husband after her children are grown.
