Veronica Torres — Elementary Teacher

Veronica TorresPerseverance is a good word to describe Veronica Torres, an elementary teacher at Alpha Omega Academy. Full of determination and self-described as "goofy" and "optimistic," Veronica is the living example that God works though every circumstance for good. Born in Mexico, Veronica was raised in an orphanage at a young age after her parents divorced. However, even in this unfortunate event in her life, God used this experience to teach her to share, to trust in Him through good times and hard, and to live life for God because everything belongs to Him.

Veronica puts these lessons to practice everyday at AOA as she helps students and teachers with grading, answering questions, and talking to families about individual student's progress. She uses her gifts of a bilingual background to help people of multiple cultures. Veronica says, "I've felt fulfilled teaching when students don't understand a certain topic, and I try many strategies until they finally understand it, and later on smile because it wasn't as hard as they had thought."

Enjoying serving others, Veronica believes her background has allowed her to focus on the Lord and not on materialistic things. She does enjoy football, soccer, volleyball, singing, joking and laughing, traveling, and above all, dancing. In fact, if she could do anything, she'd learn how to dance Latino dance professionally in Puerto Rico. Her favorite Bible verses are those found in Psalms 139. Her hidden talent is carpentry, and if she could meet anyone, it would be Joseph from the Bible since he is a dreamer, and she can relate to him!
