Step 2: Registration
Registration is the initial step of preparing your student for enrollment at AOA. Online and easy to complete, registration takes only a few minutes to finish. Simply follow the easy step-by-step instructions. At the end of registration, an initial payment will be required. The remaining balance is due upon enrollment.
Step 3: Accurate Placement
If you are enrolling your child as a full-time student, Alpha Omega Academy will administer placement tests in the two skills-based subjects, language arts and math. These tests will be used to ensure that your student is adequately prepared for his grade level in these subjects.
Faculty advisors work with you to evaluate your student's placement test results and transcripts in order to establish a program tailored to your student's academic needs.
Step 4: Enrollment
After completing registration and placement, families are provided with curriculum access and your student is enrolled in Alpha Omega Academy either as a full-time or part-time student.
A School Year at Alpha Omega Academy
Day to Day (Computer-based Option)
Alpha Omega Academy students use the innovative Switched-On Schoolhouse curriculum throughout their studies and enjoy its many interactive exercises, movies, animations, and audio clips that enhance the learning experience. With the instant grading feature, students and parents have immediate feedback regarding the student's progress.
Alpha Omega Academy teachers grade the paragraph answers, essays, and projects associated with students' lessons. Any grading or comments made by the teachers are transferred back to students via the Internet. Due dates and past due notices are noted in lessons and help keep students on schedule according to their customized lesson plan and goals.
Communication between teacher and student is accomplished in different ways. SOS Teachers can be reached through notes left in the message center or comments can be made directly on the problems themselves using the attached notepad. Students and parents are also able to place toll-free phone calls to the Academy's on-site teachers. Students receive 60 minutes of free telephone support for every course they enroll in - a student enrolled in 5 courses starts with a total of 300 minutes that he or she can use to talk to a teacher in any department. These teachers are available to provide academic support from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm CST.
Day to Day (Print-based Option)
Alpha Omega Academy offers two full-color, print-based Christian curricula: LIFEPAC and Horizons. Under parent direction, students read and complete lessons contained within each worktext or workbook. Tests and homework are completed according to the curriculum's scheduled layout. Tests and writing projects are submitted to the Academy via the Internet (or by mail or fax, when necessary) and are graded by Alpha Omega Academy staff. Records are kept of student grades, credits, and attendance.
