It is with pleasure that Alpha Omega Academy introduces a new principal, Mrs. Julia Ellis. Ellis’s rich experience in the field of education makes her an excellent fit for this new role at the academy.
Ellis holds a bachelor of science degree in chemistry with a minor in secondary education from the University of Tennessee. She also holds a master of arts degree in curriculum and instruction with a minor in educational administration, where a large majority of her coursework was in online education and design.
Ellis has been with Alpha Omega Academy for the past three years. During that time, she has served as an academy science teacher. Before coming to Alpha Omega Academy, she worked as a high school science teacher at a Title I school and also served on the leadership team of that school.
Ellis places a high value on student relationships as a means to student success. Josh Rose, AOA’s executive director, said she “has shown repeatedly that she takes initiative to go the extra mile for our families.” Ellis believes all students can learn, but that it may look different for individual students.
Jessie Eben, AOA’s program specialist, celebrated the accomplishments already made behind the scenes this summer.
“Julia is a great asset for AOA, and I’m looking forward to seeing how she leads our school into the future,” Eben said.
Ellis plans to capitalize on the strengths of the AOA team and continue to grow the school, both in numbers and in depth of relationships with faculty and the students. Her overarching goal is to equip students not only with a rigorous academic curriculum but also with a better understanding of who they are uniquely created to be in Jesus.
“Our top priority as a team will be to continue to place student learning and success at the forefront of every decision,” Ellis said.
Ellis is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, and currently resides in Gainesville, Florida, with her husband, son, and two dogs. She is an active member in her church and serves as the women’s ministry coordinator.
