Elementary teacher Andrea McCartney has been teaching at Alpha Omega Academy for over 17 years. She enjoys helping students understand new concepts and loves having the freedom to direct them to the Lord when they are facing tough challenges in life. McCartney holds a degree in elementary education from Arizona State University. She has homeschooled all her children since preschool. Her two oldest are full-time college students, and she still homeschools her two youngest children.
Born in Duluth, Minnesota, McCartney’s family moved to Arizona when she was eight years old. Though she has memories of Minnesota snow, her family took a ski trip to the mountains in Arizona each winter after relocating to continue their fun in the snow.
McCartney used to enjoy cross-stitching in her free time. However, today her primary hobby is spending time with her family. Together they enjoy camping, driving go kart in the desert, and learning about God. Her most treasured possession is the Bible that belonged to her late father.
One thing most people don’t know about McCartney is that she’s a bit of a daredevil; she said she has always wanted to go skydiving. She’s also intrigued by missionary work. If she could choose to meet anyone in the world, she would pick missionaries willing to share their stories.
