Business teacher Jessica Laverne has been instructing at the high school level for the past eight years. She’s excited to teach online because she loves to work with students on an individual basis.
“I felt fulfilled the most in my position when, on the back of a final, a student wrote a note to me expressing their gratitude and appreciation towards me,” Laverne said. “The student was one of my more quiet students, and I was overjoyed to see how I helped him throughout the year.”
Laverne grew up in New Jersey with two older brothers who constantly challenged her during their younger years. She currently lives in New Jersey where she enjoys spending time outside with her two sons. Laverne said family is her most treasured possession, and her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.
Describing herself as less than adventurous, Laverne said most people wouldn’t believe that she has been sky diving. She liked it so much she hopes to go again someday. Another item on Laverne’s bucket list is to travel to Europe.
If she were to choose another career, Laverne would become a forensic scientist because she’s intrigued by the way crime scenes can unfold.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
