Loyal and hard working, Patricia Nelson is a school support services member at Alpha Omega Academy. Supporting teachers and staff, Nelson helps students daily by collecting and verifying student grades and preparing transcripts. Nelson enjoys both the individual role of her position but also likes working with AOA faculty, who she says are always willing to help her. With a background in graphic design and illustration, Nelson’s work experience includes working in a law office, which has made her a detail-oriented person. She loves helping parents and students and feels fulfilled at her position every time she receives an email thanking her for her help.
Born and raised in the Midwest, Nelson’s hobbies include reading, cooking, road trips, and laughing with friends and family. Her absolute favorite food item is banana popsicles, but she also loves Mexican food with lots of cheese, chocolate, soup with homemade bread, and coffee. Her favorite things include silent movies, documentaries, and Monty Python. She loves studying the Old Testament and ancient religions, and she watches sprint car racing and extreme surfing in her free time.
Nelson says the person who influenced her life the most was her mother who raised her and her brother after her father passed away. Nelson said, “She cut down entire trees by herself, worked full time, and always let me know I was loved and had the freedom to fly.” Nelson’s most treasured possession is her memories, and her motto is to live every day as if it were your last.
She is a member of an international group of illustrators and says if she could do a different career she would be a children’s book author and illustrator. If she could meet anyone, she would choose Jesus and maybe a relative from the past (perhaps in the Viking era)!
A self-proclaimed storm fanatic, Nelson loves watching the wonders of weather. Quiet and sometimes silly, she says she is more reserved in nature but hopes other will remember her with a smile. Her proudest accomplishments are raising her son and always moving forward with life, no matter what obstacles have been in her path.
