As a part-time math teacher at Alpha Omega Academy, Audrey Lyons’s responsibilities include grading and answering student questions via phone, message, or online office hours.
“I really enjoy office hours because I have the opportunity to learn about my students and help them succeed,” she said. “I worked with a student a while back who struggled with math and contacted me often with questions. As I worked with her over the months, I noticed that she was slowly gaining confidence in her mathematics abilities. She worked hard and finished very well!”
Lyons grew up in San Diego, California, with her four siblings. Before joining Alpha Omega Academy, she taught for two years at a charter school after earning a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
Her hobbies include reading a good book, basking in the warm sunshine, crocheting gifts, cooking delicious meals for her family, and taking long evening walks. She also enjoys She is also fluent in Hungarian, has a son named Aaron, and hopes to one day see and experience the beauty of the aurora borealis
