Math Applications in the Real World is designed for high school students at AOA who have completed Geometry and Algebra II.
Math Applications in the Real World is designed for high school students who have completed Geometry and Algebra II. The course starts with a review of math skills students need throughout the course before building knowledge of financial math applications with banking and credit cards, cars and housing, budgeting and bills, and investing and retirement. Students also gain a better understanding of various financial situations and use math to guide their decision-making.
The course’s second half focuses on applications in the real world of science, engineering, and more. Topics include Hooke’s Law, Newton’s Second Law, and Boyle’s Law, as well as interpreting bar and circle graphs, conducting surveys and observational studies, analyzing statistics, and more.
