Prepare for chemistry and physics! Physical science is the perfect high school elective for providing students in grades 9-10 with a foundational understanding of physical science basics. First semester topics in this course from our online academy include physical properties of matter; atoms and molecules; elements and compounds; change in matter, acids and bases; and energy forms.
In the second semester, students cover lessons on magnetism, electricity, machines and the laws of force, friction and mechanical apparatuses, atomic and nuclear structures, and volume and mass. Also included in this course from our online academy is a section on science and tomorrow which reviews the impacts of humanity on environments and exploration. Each unit of the course contains quizzes and a test to evaluate progress and student mastery. Projects and hands-on experiments included.
Materials are required to complete the labs in this course. The academy recommends Home Science Tools as a resource for purchasing these specialized materials. Please note: material covered in this course is the same content found in 8th and 9th grade science.
