The October 2019 student of the month is Christian Barlow, a seventh grade student who lives along Florida’s Gulf Coast. A student with sensory processing disorder, Christian is excelling in his first year of online learning at Alpha Omega Academy.
“He is a very enthusiastic learner,” wrote Mrs. Heather Sinnett, who nominated Christian for this month’s honor. “He paces ahead and keeps his grades up. He also likes to visit with teachers and his advisor, showing good communication skills at a young age, and he has great study skills.”
My AOA Story
This is my first year at AOA. Last year for sixth grade, I did Switched-On Schoolhouse. We got a catalog from Alpha Omega Publications, and that’s when we found AOA.
Why I Love AOA
Homeschooling is fun for many reasons. I enjoy making my own schedule, and I can be in school whenever and wherever I want. My online interaction with my teachers is so helpful because if I need any guidance with anything, I can contact them with just a quick message.
My Favorite Subject
My favorite subject is history because I love to learn about our past.
I have one older brother. His name is Jack, and we like to surf, play basketball, and go fishing on our boat.
My free time is usually spent with friends.
A career within the FBI is something I would seek out and work for.
My Words of Wisdom
Never give up! I have sensory processing disorder, but that did not stop me from succeeding. At the age of four, I overcame the inability to eat or speak by hard work and faith.
