The December 2017 student of the month at Alpha Omega Academy is Jacob Schendel, a freshman from southwestern Oregon with a joy for learning and an eye on a future career as an engineer.
“Jacob is a complete joy to work with,” said science teacher Tracy Oleson who nominated Jacob for the final student of the month honor of the calendar year. “He loves science and is always messaging me scientific facts and information that goes beyond the lesson. On the academic side of things, he uses his quiz retake, cares about knowing why he has something incorrect, and works hard.”
My AOA Story
I joined the academy in third grade. Before we learned about the online program, I did LIFEPAC for first and second grade. My favorite subject is math because it is full of mind puzzles, which I enjoy.
Why I Love AOA
My favorite part of online learning is being able to go to school in my pajamas.
I like to spend my free time doing puzzles, playing video games, and building stuff with my erector set. I also enjoy exercising, and I am in an advanced swim class.
I have five sisters. We like to rough house, play board games, and go mountain biking, fishing, and hiking together.
My Dream Job
I want to work at Boston Dynamics. They have my favorite robots, such as Atlas, Handle, and Spot.
My Words of Wisdom
My recommendation to my classmates is to stay ahead on your lessons by a few days, so if you are struggling in school or are sick, you don’t fall behind.
