In the month of February, two new things will be rolling out in Alpha Omega Academy.
First, I am excited to announce the release of Ignitia Writer on February 15. A new instructional tool that improves students' essay-writing proficiency, Writer offers students individualized feedback before the writing is submitted to the teacher for grading. The tool checks for spelling errors, grammar mistakes, and word choice, and also evaluates grade level and how well the writing relates to the question that was asked. Writer encourages revisions and helps students achieve higher scores on questions requiring answers longer than 125 words. Writer does not guarantee a specific grade on essay questions, but it is a great tool to help all students improve their writing.
During the 2013 year, periodic in-service afternoons have been introduced for the teachers of Alpha Omega Academy. On these days, teachers will use the afternoon to work on curriculum improvement projects. During these times, the Academic Support Hotline and certain Online Office Hours will be unavailable. The Online Office Hour information will be updated on the weekly schedule. Students may continue to work on coursework during these times.
Below is a schedule of the in-service days planned for 2013. Each in-service will take place from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (CT).
